Yesterday for lunch Rachel ate an entire can of Fruit Cocktail. She loves the stuff. Last night she found the can in the garbage and stuck her finger in it and it was stuck between the lid and the can. Yep, deep cut. She was screaming, I was crying and trying to figure out which way to make the lid go to get her finger out. I decided to push it down because it was pointed that way but she decided to pull her finger out. OMG! Blood everywhere. I cleaned it up and couldn't tell whether or not it needed stitches. I put pressure on it and bandaged it up when she would no longer tolerate me holding it and she hopped down to go play. I changed the gauze three more times and the bleeding had almost stopped so I decided she was okay. Randy came home and looked at it and he agreed.
Then Lindsey calls from college. She needs toothpaste and conditioner and she only has enough money for gas. Okay, so I was going to send her a care package with the stuff inside but now I have decided to go see her instead. I think she could have gotten these things last weekend but she probably spent her money on movies, eating out, etc. Anyway, I want to see her so I tell her I will come to visit but then she tells me that her dad needs to come to because she can't get her printer to work. So he may go tomorrow night and I may go next week. I just think we'll arrange it so that she gets one of us visiting So that was our evening.
This morning I took Rachel outside to play. She does the happy dance because she loves being outside with the pets and running "free". Every single day I get visitors. People inviting me to their church, handy men looking for jobs, etc...Today it was a handy man. He decided that not only would he ask for work but he also wanted to tell me all of his problems...his ex wives were on drugs...his father disowned him...he needs my husband to be his attorney in exchange for yard work....okay, whatever...I don't think he'll be doing inside work :)
Right after he left the three boys came out. Joshua was mad because John was wearing his jeans and Mark was upset because John threw his eraser and he needed to fix his crossword puzzle (spelling words) so I had to check to see the size of John's pants (yes, they were Joshua's) and make John go change his pants and find Mark's eraser. John grumbled all of the way up the stairs so now he is going to bed thirty minutes early. Mean Mom. I like to send them to bed early when they disobey or talk back. They think staying up late is the best thing in the world and I think it is the WORST. I love to get to go to bed early!
I am still outside..Rachel is climbing in and out of a headboard that I have laid out on plastic on the front porch that I plan to refinish. She lays in the "book" part and says night night. Then she chases the cat until it can't stand it any more and lightly scratches her (only once did it break skin).
We decide to let Phoebe free. Phoebe McDoggy had been chained up but was so depressed so we agreed that a short life running free was better than a long life on a chain BUT little did we know that she thought that dodging cars was as fun as going to McDonalds. I called her back away from the street twice but I knew that she was thinking of chicken mcnuggets and really wanted to go to McDonalds (Phoebe, not Rachel). Finally she ran back and forth in front of the traffic like it was a game so I had Mark come outside to watch Rachel while I took the chain to go catch her. I ran across the street and Penelope, our other dog, decides to follow me. She is a good doggy and only goes when we go but I sent her home and she obeyed. I am yelling for Phoebe and there is the police chief sitting in his car watching for speeders and law breakers (he does this all of the time, right in front of our house, and always waves at us). He gets out of his car and tries to help me catch her, picture that, the police chief yelling "Phoebe! Come here!". Then a guy from the car wash proceeds to help as well and he is yelling for her and she is headed toward McDonalds drive thru. Finally she changes her mind and heads toward the Chief and then back home...I am following her all the way!!! I am so embarassed!!
I was going to share my epiphanies but I didn't want to forget these events. I like this. I like being busy. Life is NEVER DULL and I rarely want it to be!
